I joined CYP because of the opportunity to engage with other young people and the wider business community.
As the current treasurer of CYP I want to promote sustainable growth for our organisation. I help the the committee to apply our resources effectively to create real value for CYP members.
I work as a Senior Advisor at KPMG, specialising in Internal Audit Risk & Compliance Services.
Tasman Gillies - Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu
I joined CYP after moving back to my hometown Christchurch. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and making new connections. As well as being involved with helping to organise the fantastic events CYP put on.
Outside of CYP, I work as a dentist at The Smile Company.
Deborah Gilkison - Cookie Time Ltd
Originally from the UK, I came to NZ on a working holiday in 2014 and instantly became hooked on mountains, L&P, and pineapple lumps. I moved to Christchurch in 2015 after a short stint as a Hobbiton tour guide (yes you read that right) and began working as a respiratory sales representative for AstraZeneca in early 2016. Being alone on the road a lot CYP has been a great place for meeting like-minded people and I look forward to being more involved this year on the committee. If you see me don’t be shy, come say hello!
I joined CYP to get out and meet some new, like-minded people in Christchurch. I am also at the stage of my career where I believe I can assist in the development of others entering the professional workforce. Outside of CYP I am a Structural Engineer at Beca. I enjoy touch, running, biking
I am dedicated to my second year on the CYP committee because this year is going to be an exciting mix of new and old committee members- meaning fresh ideas, good financial backing and a real mix of members. This year I want to help bring our membership great events as well as create a friendly environment where you can meet a diverse group of professionals.
I am a lawyer at Taylor Shaw Barristers and Solicitors and this year I am taking on an additional role of mother after welcoming the little one in February this year. I also love to snowboard, run, race, eat, cook and socialise.
Joining CYP has been a great way to expand my professional and social networks and have a bit of fun along the way too! I’m looking forward to putting my event management and marketing skills to good use while on the Committee and learning some new skills as well.
Outside of CYP I’m the Marketing and Communications Manager for TDM Events – event managers for the Canterbury A&P Show and other community/corporate events.
I’m excited about what our committee will bring to CYP members this year, with lots of cool new ideas as well as hanging on to those events that we know everyone loves.
I joined CYP after moving back to Christchurch after a few years away. CYP is a great way to meet new people and get to know more of the young professionals working in and around Christchurch.
Outside of CYP I am an Event Coordinator at the Chamber of Commerce.
I also enjoy playing a bit of netball and try to fit in as much travel when I can.
I became a member of Canterbury Young Professionals with the objective of getting an early bird ticket to the annual ball. I soon realised that CYP had a lot more to offer than the chance to get dressed up for an evening! I joined the CYP Social Committee at the beginning of 2017 and since then have loved the opportunity to meet people both outside and within my own profession. I am excited to be involved in organising events which appeal to all our members and to continue to grow CYP by offering young professionals both local and new to Christchurch the opportunity to get involved and have some fun.
Outside of CYP, I am an Associate at Hatherly Loughnan Lawyers.
I joined CYP to meet other professionals working in a wide range of industries and make new relationships that will benefit my career and social interests. I hope to do the same for others by organising events that will attract the diverse range of professionals in Christchurch.
Outside of CYP I work as a Design Engineer for Enztec. My passions are skiing, biking, travel, and innovation.
