CYP presents 'Home-buying 101 and property investments'
Register now for CYP's June Business Event - 'Home-buying 101 and property investments'. We have worked with one of our sponsors, ASB, to line up a panel of speakers to discuss the process of buying a home. This will be an excellent opportunity for those considering buying their first home, and equally relevant for those purchasing further investment properties, with updates from industry experts on the changing property environment.
Whether it's your first or your fourth home, our industry experts will have some useful tips to share:
Warren Oliver, Commercial Manager, Relationship Banking at ASB. Warren has been lending to Canterbury residents for the last 14 years, with in excess of $750 millionadvanced to help families into new homes, and property investors achieve their goals. Warren has an extensive background in the property market, including first home buyers through to seasoned property purchasers, and those building their dream homes. With the current restrictions on purchasing property in the Canterbury region, Warren can offer a hands on approach to make this sometimes daunting process as easy as possible. He will enlighten us on the ins and outs of mortgages: what to look for, what information is required, and when to start talking to your bank about buying a home.
Mark O'Loughlin, Real Estate Agent, Bayleys Real Estate. Mark has been involved in marketing and selling over $320 million of real estate in Canterbury for 15 years. From selling $65,000 homes to $3 million homes, there are not many streets in Christchurch that have not had one of Mark's 'For Sale' signs in them. In today's changing environment, which includes new challenges brought about by nature and by new buying or selling requirements, even more hands-on involvement is required. Working with fellow professional groups, including ASB, Mark has helped numerous families to move forward with finance and insurance in these challenging times. Mark's team are at the coal face and here to help and advise you. Mark will give us a run-down on market trends, and what to look out for when buying a home or rental property. He might also have a few tips about picking the right property from a realtor's perspective!
Eleanor Jackson, Solicitor, Anderson Lloyd, another of our CYP sponsors. Eleanor is a solicitor in Anderson Lloyd's property team. She has 5 years' experience specialising in all aspects of property law, including advising on ownership structures such as family trusts. Since September 2010, Eleanor has been actively involved in giving advice on the implications of the earthquakes on property transactions and is well versed in buying and selling property in the current market. She will cover the legal aspects of buying a home - what to look for and consider, what to ask your lawyer, and what complications the earthquakes have added to buying a home in Canterbury.
Each speaker will take the stage for a section, with time for questions at the end. There'll be time for another drink and networking following the seminar.
