We have worked with Beca, one of our CYP sponsors, to bring you our next speaker event. Peter Beck, current Christchurch City Councillor and former Dean of the Christchurch Cathedral, will be sharing his journey from the church to the council with us on 18 October 2012. Peter was Dean of the Christchurch Cathedral from 2002 until 2011, when he resigned to contest a vacancy on the Christchurch City Council. He is now a councillor in the Burwood/Pegasus ward.

Peter has been an inspirational figure and staunch community advocate since the earthquakes, and has more to share as we look towards the future. He has travelled an interesting path from a life in the Anglican Church to being an elected official, and will share the diverse experiences of that journey with us. You'll also have the chance to speak to Peter about the rebuild from a councillor's perspective.

On 18 October we will be back in the central city at the Canterbury Club, with nibbles and a cash bar to begin at 5.30pm. Come along to share a drink, catch up with other young professionals, and hear from one of our most interesting local personalities.
