About the Event

Join us for our September Business event, where The Arts Centre Trust Board Chair, Jen Crawford, will share the vision for the Arts Centre and seek feedback around the proposal. In 2011, the devastating Canterbury earthquakes saw 22 of 23 buildings at the Arts Centre close for the foreseeable future. Work is already underway on a path of transformation to restore and reawaken one of New Zealand's most significant heritage sites. The vision includes some of the core uses previously associated with the Arts Centre and some new plans.

About Jen

Jen is a Partner at Anderson Lloyd Lawyers and the current Chair of the Arts Centre of Christchurch Trust Board. As Arts Centre Chair, Jen provides governance oversight into the heritage restoration project that is currently underway at the site.

Jen is a recent trustee of the University of Canterbury Foundation, a member of the Institute of Directors, New Zealand Historic Places Trust and Resource Management Law Association.

She has 17 years' experience as a resource management and project consenting lawyer with leading law firms in New Zealand and the UK, with particular expertise in earthquake recovery and rebuild issues.

In addition to being a qualified lawyer, Jen has a first class honours degree in History from the University of Otago.

Jen is highly committed to the Canterbury recovery effort and has been involved in a number of organisations set up in the aftermath of the earthquakes, including the Canterbury Business Leaders Group.

About The Arts Centre

The Arts Centre is one of the most significant clusters of heritage buildings in New Zealand. Once the site of the University of Canterbury, these distinctive Gothic Revival buildings have been transformed into an internationally renowned centre for the arts, culture and creativity. Although the Arts Centre is currently closed to the public, work is underway to progressively re-open the site.
