Looking to be a part of something where I could engage with like-minded young professionals in beautiful Christchurch, I stumbled upon an email to join CYP. Thanks to Brigitte for her awesome PR skills.
Although I come from a finance background, recently I have moved into procurement to add more variety into my working life. I am active with sports especially Cricket (in summers) and Badminton (in winters) and have been a part of Christchurch’s performing arts circle in the past. I look forward to see you coming to our next event.

CYP always seemed like the perfect place to get involved, and after many weeks of indecisiveness and countless positive recommendations, I finally took the plunge and braved my first event. And as they say, the rest was history! There really is no better way to meet new, like-minded people, explore the ever growing city landscape and be part of a community that is enabling strong networking, business and social opportunities. I currently work in a healthcare setting as a pharmacist, but my interests extend to travelling, baking cakes, reading and sports (avid supporter of anything sporting). Join us and come say hi, you wont regret it.

Originally from Auckland but I’ve been in Christchurch for over a year now. I work as a junior surgical resident at the hospital. My interests include hiking, movies, arts, reading. I attend the gym and yoga regularly. I also volunteer for various organizations. I am on CYP social committee this year to help build strong ties and networks between the young people of Christchurch. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. We hope to see you all at upcoming events and please come and say hi!

I joined CYP in 2017 on a friend's recommendation. In 2018 I was secretary elect and also apart of the ball committee. As president this year my goals are to increase value for our members, give you the events you love , add new events to the calendar and make CYP more inclusive for all those working and living in Canterbury looking to expand their social and business networks. Outside of CYP I work as a dentist at Lumino Christchurch CIty, I'm a spin class regular at Les Mills Gym and I particularly enjoy a social walk & coffee on the weekends.

I decided to be part of the Canterbury Young Professionals (CYP) Social
Committee this year because I believe CYP offers great opportunities to
formulate meaningful networks with other young people in our community.
This year I hope to expand the diversity of young people attending our events
    – remember any person working in Canterbury and working within the first 15
years of their career is eligible!
I am currently working as an Employment and Immigration lawyer at Layburn
Hodgins. Outside of work, I enjoy Bachata (Latin dancing) and exploring the
    beautiful sights of Canterbury.
I am very excited for what CYP has to offer this year and hope to see you at

I joined CYP after moving to Christchurch and setting up a new life here. I found it a great way of meeting like-minded people outside of work, and perfect for finding my feet in a new city. I decided to join the committee to assist in organising events to help both locals and newcomers to Christchurch make new friends, network and grow their careers through business events.
Outside of CYP, I am a Mechanical Engineer at ArcActive Ltd and spend my spare time on creative projects.

  • Michelle Quin

    Role: Secretary

    Works for: Bishopdale Pharmacy

I moved to Christchurch after finishing at Otago University and quickly discovered how vibrant and happening this city is. CYP was a large part of that, offering an environment to mix with other young professionals from a variety of different backgrounds. It was this uniqueness that drew me in from the first monthly drinks I attended and what motivated me to join the committee. My role as secretary is to ensure members are kept well informed of events and support the general functioning of the organisation. I am excited to contribute to providing the high-quality events CYP prides itself on and to spread the word of what CYP has to offer! If you have any queries, send me an email on the address below.
Outside of CYP, I am a Pharmacist at Bishopdale Pharmacy.

    Works for: Tait Communications

Having moved to Christchurch from the UK in 2017, I was keen to find out more about what activities are going on in Christchurch, as well as meet interesting and like-minded people. CYP has been a great way to do both! I decided to join the committee so that I could take a more active role in welcoming people who, like me, are still trying to find their feet in a new city. Outside of CYP, I work in HR at Tait Communications.

  • Mallory Kindred

    Mallory Kindred

    Role: General Committee

    Works for: AECOM

I joined CYP as a member in 2018 to attend the speed networking event. This has lead to attending most events throughout the year and resulted in meeting people from several industries I otherwise wouldn’t have by sticking to my usual networking events.
I think CYP is a great place for like-minded individuals to meet and gain experience networking in a low-key environment, and of course to get out and enjoy our ever-evolving city. I joined the committee to contribute to these events and I plan to continue the high standard of events hosted by CYP by leading the business committee in 2019.
Outside of CYP, I work at AECOM engineering consultancy as a Spatial Analyst where I focus on visualising and analysing sound produced by construction and transport. Outside of that I spend my time with my horses or hiking.

By being part of the business committee this year I look forward to helping plan events that CYP members can get the most out of. Outside of CYP I work for CIC Financial.
