CYP always seemed like the perfect place to get involved, and after many weeks of indecisiveness and countless positive recommendations, I finally took the plunge and braved my first event. And as they say, the rest was history! There really is no better way to meet new, like-minded people, explore the ever growing city landscape and be part of a community that is enabling strong networking, business and social opportunities. I currently work in a healthcare setting as a pharmacist, but my interests extend to travelling, baking cakes, reading and sports (avid supporter of anything sporting). Join us and come say hi, you wont regret it.

  • Lukas Lasek

    Role: General Committee

    Works for: Labourforce

I joined CYP in 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed being an active member. CYP as an organisation aims to bring young people together, people from all backgrounds and occupations. Since joining, I have experienced this first-hand and have met many interesting people, formed business contacts and made close friends. Because of this I decided to join the committee to be part of the fantastic team trying to make a difference in young peoples lives in Canterbury.

Outside of CYP I have several years of business experience, primarily in construction, hospitality, insurance and recruitment. Currently I work as a Consultant for Labourforce and its associating companies. I enjoy being part of creative and business ventures, playing sports, music, and socialising with people over a beer or coffee.

We’re a friendly bunch so make sure you join us at our next event and come say hello.

    Works for: Bishopdale Pharmacy

I moved to Christchurch after finishing at Otago University and quickly discovered how vibrant and happening this city is. CYP was a large part of that, offering an environment to mix with other young people from a variety of different backgrounds. It was this uniqueness that drew me in from the first monthly drinks I attended, and what motivated me to join the committee in 2019 as secretary.
This year as president, I am excited to continue providing the high-quality events CYP prides itself on and to spread the word of what CYP has to offer!
Outside of CYP, I am a Pharmacist at Bishopdale Pharmacy.

    Works for: Tait Communications

Having moved to Christchurch from the UK in 2017, I was keen to find out more about what activities are going on in Christchurch, as well as meet interesting and like-minded people. CYP has been a great way to do both! I decided to join the committee so that I could take a more active role in welcoming people who, like me, are still trying to find their feet in a new city. Outside of CYP, I work in HR at Tait Communications.

I'm a recent addition to Christchurch, and am very enthusiastic about connecting newcomers to Canterbury and forming closer relationships with clubs and organisations around the country. My focus is on finding out how to best serve young professionals at our sponsor organisations, so we all live our best lives here both in career and personal lives. I like the small city life and the environment we're surrounded by, spending most of my leisure time out hiking or socialising. This is a great part of the country and it needs to be known!

Being born and bred in Christchurch, I have experienced the true resilience of Canterbury. Through every challenge that our city has faced, we have grown as a community to overcome any obstacle. CYP is a collective that helps create bonds between us working professionals and assist in the personal, social and professional development of our members. I am proud to be part of the team that helps facilitate that.

I currently operate Sim Digital, a business which provides services such as Web & Graphic Design, Photography & Videography. I hope that my skill set will help benefit the CYP team and our organisation.

I moved back home to Christchurch after about 10 years of experiencing different cities. And soon discovered that this city is such a welcoming place, which has made the move so much easier. I wanted to join CYP and help other young people settle in if they are new to Christchurch.
I am stoked to be part of the committee as I want to be involved with events that bring young people together. It is a great way to socialise with like-minded people, learn skills that are essential to us as young professionals, all while experiencing our city.
Outside of CYP, I work as a Competence Assessment Advisor at Engineering New Zealand. In my free time, I enjoy baking, the outdoors, discovering new restaurants in Christchurch and hanging out with my newly adopted dog!
If you’re new to Christchurch, or just wanted to see what we are all about, come to our next event! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming - you won’t regret it!
